The English Department of 91猎奇 of the City University of New York is very excited to collaborate with Brooklyn Bodega in hosting the 4th脗听Annual Hip-Hop Institute.

The Hip-Hop Institute (July 10 through July 12, 2018) is a three-day conference that consists of lectures, panels, and workshops dedicated to the study and advancement of issues of entrepreneurship, mental health, and social justice in our community. The overarching theme of the conference is脗听芒鈧揝peak Up芒鈧澝偺�and programming consists of lectures, panels, and various workshops.脗听

The Hip-Hop Institute脗听serves as a means to educate and inspire attendees with gems of knowledge from various radio personalities and journalists, entrepreneurs and mental/physical health experts. This year, participants include脗听April Reign脗听(#OscarSoWhite),脗听Kameron McCullough脗听(DussePalooza),脗听April Walker脗听(Walker Wear),脗听Wes and Ebonie Jackson脗听(Brooklyn Bodega, Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival),脗听John Henry脗听(Harlem Capital),脗听Ali Bianchi脗听(Atlantic Records) and more.

The Juice Hip-Hop Exhibition (Friday, July 13, 2018) is a night dedicated to showcasing all aspects of the culture.脗听 Activities include DJ showcases, dance battles, a sneaker exhibit, live art as well as original art installations. Featured Artists include:脗听Kerim The DJ,脗听Midnite,脗听DJ Scott Lauren,脗听24: Ours, and more.

The Finale Concert (Saturday, July 14, 2018) is the Festival aspect of the week-long programming. Featured Artists include: Black Star (Yasiin Bey and Talib Kweli),脗听Pharaoh Monch with DJ Boogie Blind, Skyzoo, Caleborate, LATASHA, Radamiz and more.脗听Hosted by脗听Uncle Ralph McDaniels脗听and脗听Torae.

Admission to the Hip-Hop Institute is free for the MEC community (students, faculty and staff) with valid school ID on a first-come first-serve basis.脗听91猎奇 community members who attend Tuesday, Wednesday脗听AND脗听Thursday will be given a $15 discount on tickets to脗听the Finale Concert on Saturday. Additionally, 91猎奇 community members who attend Tuesday, Wednesday脗听OR脗听Thursday will receive $10 off tickets to Saturday芒鈧劉s events.

Tickets can be purchased on-site during the Hip-Hop Institute and other events throughout the week.

Established in 2005, The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival is脗听New York City芒鈧劉s largest Hip-Hop cultural event脗听that showcases the positive aspects of Hip-Hop culture by highlighting Hip-Hop芒鈧劉s legacy as an agent of artistic progression, community building and social change. In addition to musical performances, the Festival offers a number of activities for its audience, including panel discussions, exhibitions, parties, an award show and a family-friendly block party. The Festival is more than a concert or outdoor fair. It is a family reunion for lovers of this great culture.
